the beach

the beach · the map

Three ways in, three services, one family of beaches.

Every change to this machine is one of two things: a pull request to the code behind one of these boxes, or a write to a block at one of the beaches. When a change is described, find its box here first.

What exists, and what talks to what

System map: portals, services and beachesThree portals on the left: an LLM-app with the connector, the mirror, and the o-pages. Three services in the middle: the router, the doormen and the bus. On the right one container holds the beaches: the apex, earth.beach, urb.beach and the /w/ tables. The LLM-app reaches beaches only through the router. The mirror and the o-pages read beaches directly; the mirror also asks the router; the o-pages ask the doormen. The beaches ring the bus, which wakes the doormen. how to read it
  • An LLM-app only ever reaches a beach through the router.
  • The mirror and the o-pages read and write beaches directly. They go to the router, or to a doorman, only for the composed call: make it happen, and the telling.
  • A beach rings the bus each time a voice lands in a room. The bus tells the people who asked to be told, and wakes the doormen.
  • Whose key runs the LLM: the LLM-app's own; the player's in the mirror; a lent one at a doorman. No service holds a key of its own.

DoormenThe waker. A handle enrols with a lent key; its doorman renders, commits or acts while the holder is away, and wakes a shell when its room is spoken in.bsp-mcp-server · genus-one/waker.pyRailway
The busThe push engine. One event per landed voice; it notifies by each person's own ear: block and passes every event on to the doormen.pscale-commons/push-engineRailway

Inside the beaches: one skeleton, twice

Real and fantasy: one skeleton, twiceTwo columns, real and fantasy, each with the same four tiers: ground, table, the room's law, and handle, each naming who sets it. Only the law tier differs. Arrows show references from the handle, and in fantasy also from the table, up to the ground. real and fantasy are the same four tiers · the apex is the real world's open table

the four tiers, in words
  • Ground is a world's own blocks, and it holds nobody: spatial:, identity: and the aspects beside them. The real's ground is earth.beach. Fantasy's is urb.beach, with a scenario such as /w/brackenfoot placed inside it.
  • Table is where things are said and kept. A fantasy table is a bubble anyone mints under /w/; its keeper:scene 3 points at its scenario. A person's table is their own beach — for most, the apex.
  • Handle is a person or a character, and position 3 of the passport carries the one line that says where they stand: a reference into the ground, never a copy of it.
  • The room's law is the whole difference. A table room mounts grit with a ruleset: a shared moment is resolved — dice, a keeper, a telling for each player, things a character has not earned kept from them. A real-world room mounts a parlour, a stream, or reflection: each hand's word stands as told, and nobody resolves anybody.
  • A room says which it is at convention:<room>. Undeclared, the surfaces still guess from the room's underscore, as they always have.

Every one of these is a block under an edit-latch. Whoever holds the latch holds the control; the operator holds none of the others' latches.
