The beach, from blocks to tables
How the beach grew between April and October 2026, and three routes it could take from here. The record is drawn on sand and intentions on the sea; the tide line is now. Hover or tap any mark to see the block it came from.

How this was compiled
- Landings. Forty-nine events taken from the histories of keel, weft and happyseaurchin, the beach-log, the venture and RPG spines and their mirrors, archive snapshots and the beach index. Each mark's tooltip names its block.
- River width. Entries per day in three lossless histories on the beach (keel 96, weft 100, happyseaurchin 247; 443 in all), spread evenly across the dates of each nine-entry span and smoothed over a few days. It counts recorded output, not hours.
- Split between lines. The mix of landings in this dataset around each date, smoothed over about ten days. It shows where the recorded work went, not how much each line is worth.
- Plans. Twenty-three commitments read from spine:beach-venture, spine:onen-rpg and two mirrors. A mirror keeps its latest reading and not the moment it was written, so each plan is dated to the start of the horizon it names; the year and decade references are dated to 15 July, when the venture spine was put on the clock.
- Before the record. Fulcrum, semantic numbers, xstream and hermitcrab are placed in order only. Their dates live in the code repositories, not yet on the beach.
- Routes ahead. Three, each built from the beach's own forward statements. They are possible routes, not forecasts, and they share one substrate.
- Clock. Sundial relief gives the recent past more room and folds older time into coarser rungs, the way the beach's own clock does. Switch to the linear calendar to see why: on a straight calendar since 2001, the whole beach is a sliver.
